Cloud Workspace Suite: IndependenceIT updates platform

IndependenceIT is targeting ISVs, MSPs and VARs with its retooled cloud workspace platform, which aims to ease the task of running workspace as a service and other workloads.

Calling it a major release, IndependenceIT, a provider of an integrated workspace automation software platform, today announced Cloud Workspace Suite 5.0. The vendor's previous version, Cloud Workspace Suite 4.2, was announced in November 2015.

The orchestration and workflow automation platform targets independent software vendors (ISVs), managed service providers, and value-added resellers that are running and reselling data center workloads. Those workloads include third-party workspace as a service platforms; support for Azure Active Directory as a service across public, private and hybrid clouds; and hyper-scalable application services for the delivery of application workloads.

"The role of the product is to lighten the burden of the administrator, as well as do everything from provisioning a private cloud within a public cloud environment, end-user management on through remote applications ... with all the components wrapped up into a single control interface," said Chip Buck, founder and CTO at IndependenceIT, based in Allentown, Pa.

The Cloud Workspace Suite provides automation to help customers scale their environments as they grow.

New product enhancements and functionality include:

  • A refreshed user interface and user experience that provide a new layout, new menu structure and new iconography;
  • Azure AD integration;
  • Azure software-defined data center self-service deployment;
  • App services, which target ISVs looking to deploy, manage and support application workloads in public, private or hybrid cloud deployments;
  • Resource scheduling;
  • Cross-platform live server scaling;
  • Cross-platform automated server cloning; and
  • The ability to customize drive shares on a per-customer or corporate division basis.

As partners get trained on the new Cloud Workspace Suite 5.0, they'll be transitioned over to the latest software as a service product release, which will take place over a quarter -- or about 90 days -- to make sure they're well-trained, according to the company.

IndependenceIT will be offering partners a series of both live and recorded training webinars. "For our larger partner organizations who desire it, we'll do on-site one-to-many training with their administrators," Buck said.

Partners will have access to Cloud Workspace Suite 5.0 when it goes to general availability, which is currently scheduled for June.
